“Everyone has a platform regardless of job title, income level, or age.”
I used to think that in order to have a major, positive impact in my life and the lives of others, I needed to have a platform which consisted of a big title and big money. I’ve come to learn that neither is the case. All you need is what your life experiences have already given you—A story to tell. Yes, your story is your platform and your heart, mind, mouth and fingers are your channels to get it out.
I know some of you are either saying or thinking, “Huh?” You are because you feel you haven’t accomplished anything “Big” or given away any big money. What you have done is the most important thing: Survived! Yes, survival is your story and your platform. Reason being, many other people are going through what you already have. As a result, you can empathize and connect with them. In other words, your story gives them the inspiration and confidence they will also need to get through the storm.
When it comes to stories, we all have them. No story of survival is too small – there will be something from your story that others can relate to and benefit from hearing. Surprisingly, the main person who will benefit from it is you. Indeed, when you are facing a storm, always remind yourself of the storms you have already made it through. Doing so gives you a peace of mind and the confidence you need to make it through the current storm.
In closing, you don’t need a big title or big money to have a platform. All you need is what you already have, the willingness to open your mouth or your fingers to tell your story.
